Which Holistic Therapy is Best for Anxiety?

As a Holistic Therapist, I'm often asked which therapies are best for certain ailments and conditions, and anxiety is something that many people seem to be struggling with right now.

I'm not a Doctor and to be honest Holistic Therapy isn't an exact science. 

Holistic means whole, so the Holistic Therapies you'll find here at Angel Wings Holistics are Complemetary Therapies that are designed to treat you as a whole human being - mind, body, emotions, heart and soul.

Complementary means that they are designed to work alongside traditional medicine and treaments, not replace it.


So which one is best? 

As a long term, chronic anxiety sufferer, I can speak from my own person experience about what has helped me, and many of my clients, but the most important thing to remember is that each person is unique and different!

That means that what works for you, might not work for the next person and vice versa.

Reiki

My first and go-to suggestion for Anxiety (or depression for that matter) is always Reiki. 

Reiki is a wonderful and gentle therapy where you stay fully clothed (I personally really dislike having to disrobe in front of strangers!) and you lie down on a comfy therapy couch with a warm blanket and pillows.

Reiki is a form of spiritual healing that brings feelings of wellbeing, peace, relaxation and helps people who have been repressing or hiding their emotions.

Some clients will actually find they shed a tear or two during the session, which can be quite cathartic if you've been holding everything in for a long time.

All in all, it's a wonderful treatment and will leave you feeling calm, centred and hopefully a bit better in yourself too.

One Reiki treatment isn't going to "cure" your anxiety, but it will most likely provide you with some welcome relief and peace, and regular sessions can become a useful part of your personal treatment plan to manage and maybe even improve your condition over time. 


Metamorphic Technique

The Metamorphic Technique, or MT for short is a very interesting therapy, and probably the least well-known of all the Holistic Therapies we offer.

MT was developed from Reflexology, and works on the same principles but without any pain! 

It involves a very light touch to the feet, hands and head, and works on the energy pathways to remove blockages and give your soul a bit of a kick up the backside!

Many of us fall into unhealthy patterns or find ourselves held back or stuck in life due to illness or unhelpful habits or thought patterns. MT is very good at helping to shift all these things and shifting your life along to the next step with it!

It's a very interesting therapy where you may find your mind wandering, and you may get some interesting revelations and clarity or an 'A-HA moment!'

The practitioner has to stay emotionally detatched during the session to allow your soul to do it's work without interference, so please don't be offended if I don't say much or interact with you.

This can be helpful for long term or chronic ailments or illness, but again, one session is unlikely to "fix" your anxiety. As with anything, our bodies and minds take time to heal, and we may have karmic lessons to overcome that can't just be erased.


Indian Head Massage with Reiki

This is a really lovely therapy, and when you have an Indian Head Massage here at Angel Wings Holistics, you'll also get a dose of Reiki during the session. 

This is a modern, Westernised version of a traditional Indian practise, that not only relaxes muscles that have become tense from anxiety, but also helps you to feel better and more relaxed in yourself.

Again, we do this one fully clothed, although it might be necessary to remove jewellery or thick jumpers so we can feel your back and shoulders to work on them!

As with any massage, it helps to relax the body and the mind which is helpful to anyone struggling with anxiety. 

Anxiety gave me terrible tension in my body, so massages were a part of my own treatment plan for many years (and I still get the odd one now!) Personally, I highly recommend them!

But which one is THE BEST?

Well that's a good question! To be honest, they are ALL helpful and in my honest opinion, as with all things spiritual, if you have to choose one, you should go for the one you feel drawn to. 

Any or all of them will certainly help, and with things like this I firmly believe that something is better than nothing.

So choose the one you want to try, and if you want to, you could mix it up by trying a different one the following week or month, or just have one of each to see which works best for you!

Reiki and MT in particular have virtually no contra-indications, and are safe and gentle therapies you are sure to enjoy so don't stress - just have a go and see what you like.

You'll soon find which one (or combination) works best for YOU, and at the end of the day that is all that matters.


It's all about YOU, your journey and what helps you to feel better, calmer and less anxious.
