Tarot Cards, Oracle Cards, Angel Cards or Lenormand Cards?

What's the difference and which one should I choose for my reading?

Tarot, oracle, angel and lenormand cards are all used for the psychic discipline of cartomancy which means to divine the future or carry out a psychic reading using cards. 

There are many different types of cards that can be used for this purpose including regular old playing cards!

Tarot Cards follow a specific order, and there are 78 cards in a deck including 22 Major Arcana or trump cards, and 56 Lower Arcana cards. There are modern versions of the tarot deck which sometimes include imagery, extra meanings, and some even tweak the decks a little bit to add an extra dimension or additional meanings.

Some people find the tarot a little intimidating because there are cards with scary sounding names like "Death" but rest assured these cards are not as scary or negative as they sound! The Death card for instance, is all about new beginnings and can be quite a positive sign!

Oracle Cards is more of an umbrella term for many different types of cards used for cartomancy. They can have all sorts of different themes, meanings, energies and images ranging from flowers and mushrooms to animals and gods or goddesses. 

Angel Cards feature various angels, and generally only give positive and uplifting messages. These are nice for anyone who is a bit nervous about having a reading for the first time. Angel cards can be included under the Oracle Card umbrella, but are generally recognised as a distinct sub-category of their own.

Lenormand Cards are in a category of their own! Like Tarot, they are an older system of 36 cards created by Marie Ann Lenormand, famous French fortune teller from the Napoleonic period in France. Her system is quite unique, and the cards all have specific meanings. There are different versions of her cards available with different imagery but all retain the original meanings of the 36 cards.
