How Do You Feel Today?

I don't know about you, but for the past week my inbox has been inundated with emails telling me I need to lose weight, asking me how I'm getting along with my weight loss goals and offering to make me thinner!

I was a little surprised because I'm quite happy with my size, but it seems every mailing list I'm a member of is promising to make me lighter and leaner for 2019!

Because obviously that's all that matters right? How you look. Your appearance is the be and and end all!

Erm...

But what about how you feel? None of these companies seemed particularly interested in asking me how I felt , or how I might like to feel in 2019 and beyond (other than thinner), and surely that's far more important?

I wanted to address this today, because in the rush to make New Years Resolutions to join the gym, go to yoga, drink 26 glasses of water, live on celery juice and be thinner than a sheet of paper, it seems to me that a whole part of us is being ignored.

And guess what - it's the part that actually has a really big influence on your weight and wellness!

So today instead of grilling you about your waistline, I want to ask you this:

- How do you feel? 

- Are you OK?

- Do you need some help?

When we take a holistic approach to life, wellbeing and weightloss, your emotional wellbeing is really super-important. We've all heard about emotional eating or comfort eating, but it's rarely taken very seriously.

We simply beat ourselves over the head for being "weak" and move on to the latest diet crazy, convinced that we'll have the "willpower" to make it this time.

But I can tell you now - your weight probably has a lot less to do with willpower than you think.

If you're not feeling OK in yourself, your body is going to tell a story about that, one way or another.

It could be excess weight but it could also be not keeping enough weight on, looking older, being prone to illness or injury, unexplained pain or just plain exhaustion.

So do youself a favour and use this month of New Resolutions to check in with yourself about how you feel and what you need to do or be in order to feel better in yourself physically, emotionally and mentally too.


You matter, and how you FEEL is far more important than how you LOOK.
