A Word About Timings in Psychic Readings
Posted by Helen Crosbie on 23rd May 2021
A very important subject to fully understand when getting a psychic reading (or giving one for that matter!) is the issue of timings.
First of all, let's take a look at what I mean by that.
When you get a reading your psychic will make certain predictions for you, and very often they will tell you when they believe that is likely to happen. A "timing" in this context is the date, season, month or other time that the psychic has predicted that this event will come to fruition. For example, you may receive a prediction that you will be offered a new job opportunity in June.
Sounds straightforward, all well and good, right? Wrong!
Timings are tricky, and for a number of reasons! So I just want to clarify a few points here to explain how timings work and why they are sometimes "wrong" when it comes to readings.
The Future is Not Set in Stone
Now I've said this many times before, but it's always worth repeating - the future is not set in stone!
When a psychic gives you a timing, they are basing this on the energy surrounding you and your situation or question on the day.
Contrary to popular opinion, your future is not pre-written or set in stone before it happens. You are responsible for making your own choices and decisions, which means you are more empowered than you might realise when it comes to how your life goes.
Something may be predicted as a part of your future at a set time, but you might decide that actually you would rather do things differently. It's your choice if you want to do that, and providing foresight so that you can make informed decisions is the real point of having a psychic reading in my opinion. It can of course be helpful or motivational to know that positive things are coming - that the job, the relationship, or home we have been hoping for is going to show up, but that is only half the story.
You are ultimately in control of your life, and as such you have the choice to make different decisions, or do things at different times if you feel that suits you better than what your psychic has seen in the potential energy. Some outcomes also depend on you taking certain actions, so it's possible that a promotion or house move for exampled may not happen if you haven't put the work in to achieve them! Don't take a prediction as an excuse to be lazy and allow life to happen to you, assuming that because it's been predicted it has to happen, because that isn't how this works.
So in a nutshell, remember that your psychic will give you a timing for a predicted event based on what they feel is most likely, with the energetic information they have on that day, and with the help of their spirit guides.
Time doesn't exist for Spirit
It is important to remember that most psychics or tarot readers work with spirit guides and helpers when conducting a reading.
I like to joke that it's like driving under instruction with someone looking over your shoulder, pointing out things that you need to say, and they also help with timings which can be more difficult to glean from psychic tools such as cards.
Because your spirit guides are not incarnated on earth, they do not perceive time in the say way we do. The essentially exist "outside" of our space-time continuum, and as such it can be difficult for them to give specific or accurate timings because of that. I'm told that time looks very different on the other side, so we do have to make allowances for that.
This is a point that is also useful to remember if you are having a mediumship reading, i.e. the person is tuning into and communicating with your loved ones who have passed over to the other side. Your beloved friend, family member or partner may have a message or prediction for you which involves a timescale, but do always remember that timings are difficult for spirit to perceive, so take any timings given with a pinch of salt and don't hang your hat on them!
The timing isn't always important
I've seen some fascinating examples of how timings can be "off" when a prediction was still true and very accurate, so please don't assume that you've had a "bad" reading just because a timing wasn't right. Psychics are only human, and they will do their best to interpret the energy on the day and give you the best and most accurate reading they possibly can.
Life does unfold in divine timing, and for our highest good, so sometimes I think we aren't supposed to know in advance exactly when something will happen. Not least so we don't end up putting our entire lives on hold to wait for it - which can be very unhelpful indeed.
I learned a good example of how we can give accurate predictions but without the correct timing from one of my own psychic teachers. He recounted the story of how he had received a prediction about his future wife that was very accurate, describing her and how they would meet to a tee. The only problem was that the timing was off by 10 years. Yes, ten years! He didn't meet her until a decade after that reading.
I've also experienced a few interesting examples of how timings can be tricky, in my own psychic work.
One that always springs to mind when I teach my students about spirit communication and timings is from my own life. A good friend asked me about their romantic life, and if I could predict when they might meet their life partner. It was all a bit off the cuff, and I wasn't doing a proper reading for them as such, but I tuned into the energy to see what I could see. I was shown pumpkins, and my mind immediately went to Halloween, November, fall.
I described the vision to my friend and told her I felt there was a connection with that time of year. I assumed that my guides were trying to tell me that they would meet around Halloween, because they have used that imagery before to describe that timing. But, that wasn't actually what they were trying to convey this time, as I discovered later on!
You see, the problem with communicating with our spirit guides is that sometimes it's a bit like trying to play Pictionary in your head (yes, really, this is my life!) and what you think you are being shown, feeling or hearing may not translate exactly as you thought it would into real life. That is also part of the fun, I have to admit.
Halloween, and November came and went that year, and my friend asked me again what I saw about her future love life. I tuned in to the energy again and still saw pumpkins, so I told her I was still seeing the same thing, and maybe I just had the wrong year. That can happen, after all. I explained that sometimes a prediction will be made, and you think your guides mean that year, but can be a number of years off without you realising it.
Anyhoo, my friend did go on to meet their future spouse, but not in the fall. They contacted me a few months in to the relationship to let me know that actually, the prediction had been more accurate than we realised. The person in question was absolutely obsessed with pumpkins and Halloween - it was their favourite time of the year and they treated it as a major event. In England where we both live, that's quite unusual because it's not a very big holiday on this side of the pond, despite retailers best efforts to force it to take off!
My vision of pumpkins & Halloween was indeed accurate, just not in the way we had first thought.
So when you get a reading and you are given a timescale for something, do remember that nothing is set in stone, and timings aren't always accurate for a number of reasons.
You are the person in charge of your life, and whilst a psychic reading may give you a few extra insights, the decisions and choices that will take you forwards, towards the life you want, are ultimately up to you.
Timings are tricky!
