5 Reasons to Drop the Twin Flame Obsession...

5 Reasons to Drop the Twin Flame Obsession...

Posted by Helen Crosbie on 23rd Nov 2018

It seems everywhere you look in the psychic and spiritual community there are people promising to help you find or manifest your Twin Flame.

But what is a Twin Flame and how did Soulmates fall so far out of fashion?

I'm sure most people have heard of Soulmates, and just to clarify these are people who come into our lives that we have strong spiritual connections with. Our souls may originate from the same "soul group" and we may have experienced one or even many past lives together. Soulmates tend to recognise each other or just "click" very quickly upon meeting.

Not so long ago, people would often speak about looking for their Soulmate, or having found their Soulmate when referring to a strong or powerful connection that they felt with somebody, either a friend, relative or romantic partner. Soulmates are not restricted to love relationships, many family members are soulmates too and we don't usualy have just one, there can be many of them at various points in your life.

Another thing to note about Soulmates is that they aren't always very kind to us. One of the most important functions of our Soulmates is to facilitate experiences, to help us experience certain conditions, relationships, hardships and joys in our lifetime, so that our soul can learn a number of lessons. Some of these lessons can be painful, unpleasant and very hard.

For example a Soulmate relationship can be loving and deeply connected but it can also be cruel and abusive - either way, the experience is designed to help us to grow and learn as a person and as a spiritual being having a human experience.

I remember a few years back, I started hearing about Twin Flames. This was pitched as the ultimate Soulmate - the one who supposedly shared the other half of your soul and could potentially make you happier than anybody else ever could.

Many people I've encountered in the spiritual community are hellbent on finding their mystical Twin Flame relationship to the detriment of other people and partners in their lives.

The hysteria that seems to surround this desperation to find your Twin Flame is both harmful and misguided.

So at the risk of making myself very unpopular (it wouldn't be the first time!) here are some things you need to know about Twin Flames:

1.  Nobody actually knows for sure what a Twin Flame is!

Despite the many promises of often well-meaning spiritual workers who offer to magnetise or guide you towards that ultimate relationship that you are told will fulfil you like no other, the truth is as human beings living in the Third Dimension, we still have very little knowledge as to what Twin Flames actually are. Our limited knowledge of the universe and it's workings is really not sufficient for us to truly understand the concept so we have reduced it down to the most basic level of human romantic relationships

2. Your Twin Flame may not be incarnated on Earth at this time

Even if we are correct that your Twin Flame represents another "person" who shares half of your soul, it's important to note that there are an infinite number of people in other dimensions, on other planets and also in the spirit world who are not incarnate right now.

3. Your Twin Flame may be of the wrong orientation or gender for a romantic relationship with you

Just as many of our Soulmates can members of our family, or friends, a Twin Flame relationship isn't necessarily going to mean finding your Prince or Princess.

Well that's awkward...

4. Your Twin Flame isn't necessarily one person

Now I'm not suggestnig your twin flame is your cat (although some cats are rather lovely so who knows) but from what my guides have told me, people can reflect aspects of your Twin Flame to you at various times of your life. This can make it easy to think you've found that magical ONE when they are just helping you learn another universal truth.

5. Holding out for some magical "Twin Flame" perfect partner can really mess up your life

I've seen many people fall in love and believe they've found their Twin Flame in the throes of the Honeymoon period of a relationship, only to cast them aside when they notice imperfections or things that the Twin Flame guidelines they read told them are not indicative of a Twin Flame relationship.

I have honestly heard people who consider themselves to be spiritual and supposedly quite enlightened to say things about their partners like

"Oh I'm starting to think Bob is just a soulmate not my Twin Flame!" just because poor Bob turned out not to be perfect in every way.

And "just a soulmate" what the heck is that supposed to mean?!

Soulmates are souls who care very deeply for us on a spiritual level, and who have made agreements to come down to earth and help us to experience certain things that we need for our soul's evolution - good and bad, often to their own detriment. How dare you diss Soulmates like they are somehow unimportant!

Romantic relationships aren't meant to be perfect, they are perfectly flawed in many ways, and in our modern age many of us have understood that we won't just be in one relationship our whole lives.

I really worry that some people put far too much emphasis on finding their "Twin Flame," and genuinely believe that it will solve all their problems. To compound the issue, they may reject potentially very good and loving partners who don't measure up to the Twin Flame rules that they've read in some book on the subject.

Please remember that our literature on this subject was written by man - by PEOPLE. We are not yet evolved or enlightened beings (myself included) who can truly understand the concept of the Twin Flame divine union, so please stop detroying your relationships at the altar of this mythical perfect marriage.

The perfect union that we should all be working on in this lifetime is the union between ourselves and the divine

Work on your connection, your self compassion, your kindness, your humility.

Work on trying to drop your judgement of others and try to see how you can help and be of service in the world.

And then... just maybe... the right person will walk into your life anyway ;)
