Spiritual Self Care in 2021
Posted by Helen Crosbie on 6th Jan 2021
Although we are only a few days into the new year, I'm already sensing that many people are struggling with difficult feelings including anxiety, depression, and there is a new feeling that January has brought us - dread.
It feels as though many of us, and especially the sensitive, psychic, empathic peeps are waiting for the other shoe to drop. We are holding our collective breath waiting for the next horrible things to happen.
This is not a pleasant energy to get stuck in, nor is it helpful to us. These anxious feelings don't help us to be more productive, and we risk burning ourselves out with worry, if we haven't already!
I'm hearing from some of my friends and colleagues in the spiritual and holistic communities that things are feeling more difficult than usual in their lives, even given the restrictions we are dealing with, and they are finding any sort of stress or confrontation too much to cope with.
Tempers may be short right now, and our tolerance for stress pretty low so you may find yourself bickering or getting cross quicker than you normally would.
I wanted to reach out and help with some solutions to these emotional problems because there is nothing worse than feeling very alone, frightened or low.
You are not alone if you're feeling this way, and there are some very real solutions that verge on the spiritual, but are accessible to all of us.
The solution I wanted to focus upon today is MINDFULNESS.
Mindfulness is not a new notion, in fact it's been practised by various religions and spiritual masters for centuries. In our modern world however, it does seem to be making something of a revival, but many people don't fully appreciate what it is.
Mindfulness to me is a way of staying in control of your mind. Making sure that you are running to show rather than letting your mind run it for you.
As I have mentioned recently, I decided to revisit Eckhart Tolle's wonderful book The Power of Now last month. His wisdom and insight serves as a timely reminder that we don't have to live at the whims of the "monkey mind" and that we can be peaceful as long as we stay in the present moment.
I appreciate that the subject might seem a bit hard to understand a first, or even impossible to do if you're not sure how it's done. Thankfully, I can promise that becoming the master of your own mind is very much doable for us human beings, and actually not as hard as you might think.
To assist people with feeling more calm, peaceful I've decided to start an online mediation group for peace and mindfulness.
The first session will be on Monday 11th January 2021, and I'm planning to do this on a monthly basis or more if needed!
I will also be running a closed circle for psychic development which will be restricted on numbers. This sort of meditation is also helpful for peace and stress relief, although we will be focussing on developing our psychic abilities.
If you are interested in attending this or a future online meditation group with Angel Wings Holistics, please do get in touch. Let me know what you would like to achieve from meditation, and I'll help you join the right group!
Let's bring calm and positivity to 2021 so we can all start out the year on the right foot!
